5 Social Media Challenges Parents Need To Be Aware Of
As week 5 of our lock down ends and we move into week 6 of an amended approach. We just wanted to do a roundup of a subject we think needs a little attention.
As our new reality focuses on many of the limitations we have been experiencing being lifted. A lot of people, young and old are going to be jubilant. Enjoying a little more freedom to get out, go to work, go for a walk and generally not be confined to their house, or need a permit to leave it.
But the reality for our children is that they are still doing online learning. They still can’t socialise with their friends like they used to. And they are still going to be spending a lot of time online. They are also still adapting to this new approach to their life, and some are not enjoying that process at all.
A Quick Reminder
With that in mind we wanted to just remind parents, that in spite of a new found freedom. We still need to be very aware of the kinds of things happening in the digital space. Things that might well turn up in the feed for a bored teen or tween, between online classes.
Here are the 5 social media challenges parents need to be aware of. So you can have a discussion with your child about what it is and why it’s just not worth their while getting involved.
A couple of the challenges mentioned raised their ugly heads quite some time ago, but something we often emphasise. Once its online, it stays online and a lot of these challenges just keep on coming back round.
Awareness of what is happening is key to combatting this, so if you are reading this and see value, please do share the post, or head over to our social media channels – Twitter Facebook or Instagram – where you’ll find plenty of content to share with other parents/teachers/children and young people. Thank you.
